Cody Lightning (born August 8, 1986 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) is a Cree actor, director, and writer. He is the son of acclaimed actress Georgina Lightning, and the brother of fellow actors William Lightning and Crystle Lightning.
Lightning began acting as a child, earning a Young Artist Award nomination in 1999 for his supporting role in the critically acclaimed film Smoke Signals. He went on to win the American Indian Film Festival award for Best Actor in 2007 for his leading performance in Four Sheets to the Wind.
In 2023, Lightning made his directorial debut with the mockumentary film Hey, Viktor!, in which he played a fictionalized version of himself struggling to revive his flagging acting career. The film earned him two 2024 Canadian Screen Award nominations - for Best Lead Performance in a Comedy and Best Original Screenplay.
With 3 wins and 8 nominations to his name, Cody Lightning has firmly established himself as a versatile and acclaimed Indigenous talent in Canadian film and television. His work as an actor, director, and writer, in projects such as Four Sheets to the Wind (2007) and Brick (2005), continues to garner critical praise and accolades.
